Sick Kids Charitable Donation
Each year we encourage our players to give back to their community by finding a local charity that as a team of parents and players, we can relate to. This year, our hearts were touched when we heard of the story our captain brought to us.

After hearing that a friend on the bus he takes home from school has Cancer and will be undergoing Chemotherapy and losing her hair, he felt he had to do something. He approached his parents asking if he could shave his head, he wanted to make her feel comfortable and show his support. Roger’s parents were touched and as you can imagine, extremely proud that he made this choice to be a friend, a support and a leader.

We knew nothing of this, he showed up with a shaved head at practice and of course the questions came. After hearing the why, as parents our hearts broke, as a team, we wanted to show that not only were we in support of Roger but wanted to do something for his friend and her family. We were asked to make a donation to Sick Kids rather than give to the family as they felt others may be going through even harder times.

In honour of Roger’s friend, the Durham Crusaders U15 CC team and families a donation was made to the Sick Kids Foundation.
