2020-2021 Season Information
Submitted By Owen Sonnenschein on Friday, August 14, 2020
Hello Crusaders Families,

We have recently received some updated information from the OHF/OMHA with regards to the return to hockey plan. For the 2020/2021 season, it has been decided by our governing body that there will be no rep hockey. Please read this entire article.

Provincially, each association will only be permitted to play other associations within the same public health unit and only if the organization does not have enough players within the organization to construct 5 teams of 10 players.  As mandated by the OHF/OMHA, in the first phase of hockey for this season, each team will have nine players and one goalie and will begin with a 4 on 4 format. Each team will be part of a bubble of no more than 5 teams total.  Teams will be either balanced or tiered.

The Durham Crusaders are looking at the opportunity to partner with one to two associations within our public health unit and plan to have a fun and competitive season where each player develops their skills and is provided the continued experience of playing teams within the region. We recognize that your player was a part of a Crusaders Rep. team last year and that you may have been waiting to register for tryouts.  As there will be no rep divisions in the province this year, the Durham Crusaders will continue to offer a strong program with a unique competitive experience that many of the larger Centres cannot offer.

The OHF/OMHA rules state that players MUST return to the Centre where they played hockey for the 2019/20 season.  They may ALSO opt to play for their home centre as recorded on their Hockey Canada Profile.  If a resident of Whitby, the individual's home centre will be the first hockey organization they had registered with Hockey Canada (ie. the Crusaders or Wildcats organization).  Please note that any non-resident players (NRP) who were with the Crusaders last year are still permitted to play with our league this season.  We are working hard to plan for the season and will need firm registration numbers by Tuesday August 18th.

If you plan to return to the Crusaders this year, please click on the link below and complete the waitlist registration form.  This does not mean you are on a waitlist, it simply indicates your plan to return and you will be formally registered shortly.  No payment is required at this time, but will be arranged prior to the start of the season.    https://durhamcrusaders.ca/Forms/4111/
