On the weekend of December 9th and 10th, 2017, the Durham Crusaders Atom CC team entered the Norwood Atom Rep Tournament. In their first game the Crusaders tied the Norwood Hornets team 1 – 1. In their second game the Crusaders tied the Loyalist Jets 2 - 2, scoring the final goal with their goalie pulled and with just 23 seconds left in the game.
In the third game the Crusaders faced the Almaquin Ice Devils and needed to win the game, win all three periods and secure a shutout to advance, which they did, with the final score being 7 – 0 for the Crusaders.
The Crusaders faced the Loyalist Jets again in the semi-finals. The game went to 3 on 3 overtime with the Crusaders scoring to advance to the finals. Only an hour later, the Crusaders returned to the ice for the finals and faced Waterford, losing a close battle 1 – 0.
Congratulations to the Atom CC team for making it to the finals and to Waterford for winning the tournament!
