Our Durham Crusaders Peewee Green LL team recently participated in the Hespeler Classic tournament. In our first game, in the famous Galt Arena Gardens, our boys faced a tough team, Wills Insurance from Windsor but grinded out a 3-0 win. Game two vs the Hespeler Shamrocks #1, featured more gritty work and passing and a 10-2 win for the Crusaders. Game three would feature a very tough opponent in the Oakville Huskies. With much back and forth play, Oakville battled back from a 3-0 deficit to force a 4-4 tie. After finishing with 2 wins and 1 tie, our Peewee Green Crusaders were tied for fourth with the Oakville Huskies and ended up playing them in the Quarter Final. This time, the Crusaders would not be denied and came out on top with a close 2-1 win over Oakville. In the Semi Finals, our Crusaders ended up playing the undefeated Collingwood team. It was a tough battle but our boys never gave up and ended up winning 5-4 over Collingwood to put us in the “A” Championship game. After playing through 5 tough games, our Crusaders faced the Whitby Wildcats in the Finals. With some great effort, stifling defensive play and stellar goaltending, the Durham Crusaders Peewee Green would prevail 2-1 over the Whitby Wildcats to take the Hespeler Classic Tournament “A” Championship. Way to go Crusaders!!
