Who are the Durham Crusaders and what does their program offer?

The Durham Crusaders are an OMHA minor hockey organization who offer both Local League and Representative Level Hockey.

We are classified as a CC center for our rep level hockey.

Members participating in the Representative program must be Whitby residents.

Teams in the Representation CC & AE programs compete during the regular season in the Victoria Durham League (VD).  The centers that currently participate in the VDL  are Mariposa, Brock, Woodville, Kawartha, Manvers, Millbrook, Sturgeon Lake, Orono and Newcastle.

Here is what each of our teams did in the 2016-2017 season (September 9th – March 31st, 29 weeks)

(Important Note:  Every year is different, and our organization must abide by Victoria Durham and OMHA guidelines.  Additionally we are restricted by how much ice our organization is issued by the Whitby and Oshawa centers.  Last year’s number of games and practices is only a rough guide on what to expect.  The 2018-2019 season will be different, but we won’t know specifics until the beginning of September 2018.)

Practices (for CC and AE) will be full ice practices.  Practices will usually be 1 hour during the week, and 1.5 hour slots on the weekend, but this is dependent on available ice from the Whitby and Oshawa centers.  We aim for 2 practices and one game ice slot per week for rep level hockey.  When away games are added to the schedule it averages out to about 4 ice times per week excluding tournaments.  Games are scheduled in 90 minute time slots, three periods 10 – 15 – 15 with no overtime (except during playoffs).

·        Our Novice division does not have enough players to run a CC team, however we are accepting players into our Local Loop team.  Please check our website for details.

·        Our Pre-school, Instructional and Tyke divisions are also accepting new players.  There are no rep divisions for these age categories.
